A TNT Public Service Announcement:
HIV/AIDS remains one of the biggest threats to the AJ community. Infection rates amongst gay men in Singapore are said to be on the rise, and if we don’t band together, the situation may just spiral out of control.
Unfortunately, HIV in Singapore is a hidden epidemic – most who have been given a positive (the irony of the term) diagnosis keep mum about it because of the perceived (and for good reason too) stigma and discrimination they may face. There are also many others who have not gone for the tests, and hence are not even aware that the virus lies dormant in them.
By working together, each playing his own part, we can stop AIDS today. Regardless of whether you are single or happily attached, HIV positive or negative, just coming out or a wild clubber, nipping HIV in the bud’s as easy as following some simple guidelines.
